Nauru, located in the Oceania, is officially known as the Republic of Nauru. Nauru is the smallest island nation in the world. Phosphate always dominated the economy of the island and was a major source of foreign investment with the highest quality in the world, since 1907. After its deposits were exhausted, mining stopped. However, in 2006-2007, the exploitation and extraction of a deeper layer began. Agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and fishing don't really significantly affect the economy. Main industries of the country are phosphate mining, offshore banking and coconut products. |
